14 Reasons Not to Support the DNC

Yesterday the Senate voted on S.J.Res.12, the so-call flag desecration amendment. This would make the physical symbol of America's freedom more important than the actual freedom it represents. Fortunately, the resolution was voted down. To the Senate's shame, it was only voted down by one vote.

The following 14 Democrats voted to amend the Constitution to limit freedom. They're living symbols that some Democrats can't be counted on to stand on principle, even in matters of critical importance:

  • Max Baucus (D-MT)
  • Evan Bayh (D-IN)
  • Mark Dayton (D-MN)
  • Dianne Feinstein (D-CA)
  • Tim Johnson (D-SD)
  • Mary Landrieu (D-LA)
  • Blanche Lincoln (D-AR)
  • Robert Menendez (D-NJ)
  • Bill Nelson (D-FL)
  • E. Benjamin Nelson (D-NE)
  • Harry Reid (D-NV)
  • John Rockefeller (D-WV)
  • Ken Salazar (D-CO)
  • Debbie Stabenow (D-MI)

Special shame on Harry Reid, the Senate Minority Leader.

The next time you consider making a contribution to the DNC remember that its members are willing to play politics with your freedom. Support individual candidates instead.

But the news isn't all bad. The following Republicans voted to keep unpopular speech free. They are living symbols that Republicans can still break with their party and vote their conscience, especially in matters of critical importance:

  • Robert Bennett (R-UT)
  • Lincoln Chafee (R-RI)
